01 Matteo’s Ristorante Italiano

Known in Los Angeles for their trio of popular dining concepts in the Arts District. Restaurateur Matteo Ferdinandi and Chef Angelo Auriana were childhood friends in Italy. Chef Angelo, describes his concepts as a “journey to Italy with a local.” With this in mind, Matteo’s pays tribute to Northern Italy, where the two grew up. Expect to find many of those surprises on the menu. Entrees are presented in a simple and approachable way.  We recommend trying the mandilli di seta, a delicate handkerchief pasta with a basil and almond pesto. Or the Ligurian focaccina, an amazing flatbread filled with crescenza cheese. Find your new favorite at Matteo's Ristorante Italiano.

02 Buddy V’s Ristorante

As a reality star of the hit series “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro has won the hearts of dessert-lovers.  The baker’s first restaurant located in Grand Canal Shoppes, brings a menu of what Buddy calls, “New Jersey-style Italian." “My favorite dish to make is the linguini and clams, which is often found on the Buddy V’s menu,” he said. “We have a house on the bay at the Jersey shore and as you walk ten feet into the water, there are clams. Everybody goes nuts for them, so it really feels like home to me.”  Choosing a dessert is tough for The Cake Boss, but his favorite is available at both Buddy V’s and Carlo’s Bakery.  “The lobster tail is second to none… it’s my favorite pastry in the world. There’s such a craft to making it. Every single one is hand rolled and hand filled. The layers, the crispiness, all filled with custardy Chantilly cream with Baileys. There is not a vessel on the planet like it and it’s so hard to make.  I can hear the crunch in my ear, and you get creaminess with the crisp. It’s the best,” the baker raved. Try something new at Buddy V's.
