Chef Biography

Chef Eyal Shani is recognized as a founding father of modern Israeli cuisine. He is the owner of 40 restaurants worldwide and a global culinary ambassador for Israel.

In 2008, HaSalon became a dining sensation in Tel Aviv. It is now open in Ibiza, New York, and Miami as well. Each features avant-garde dishes in a collaborative party atmosphere.

Chef Shani was one of the first chefs from Israel to deconstruct the essence and spirit of the nation's food. It all began with the seafood-focused Oceanus restaurant in his hometown of Jerusalem more than 30 years ago. Since then, Chef Shani has established himself as the world’s leading proponent of contemporary Israeli cuisine. He has developed a unique culinary language based on regional Mediterranean products. Olive oil, fish, tahini, fresh seasonal vegetables and, of course, the tomato.

Shani’s highly successful restaurant portfolio has expanded worldwide. His restaurants can be found in Tel Aviv: Port Said, Romano, Miznon, North Abraxas, HaSalon and Malka. Miznon has locations in Vienna, Paris, Melbourne, London, Singapore, New York and Boston. New York City is also home to HaSalon, North Miznon, Shmone and Naked Tomato. Soon, Las Vegas will be home to both Miznon and HaSalon.

He has appeared on the TV series "Food for Thought" and has been a guest judge for six seasons of Israel’s "Master Chef."
