Success Story: Sustainability Innovation.
A Five-Year Partnership with IMEX
The Venetian and IMEX have worked together to pilot meaningful new sustainability initiatives.
Going Green.
The IMEX America event has been held at The Venetian for years. Since 2012, with IMEX we created an event-wide sustainability program. Piloting cutting-edge green initiatives and reduce the event's environmental footprint. Plus, support and educate the local community on the importance of these practices.

The 2016 IMEX sustainability partnership was the most productive yet. With new and expanded initiatives. Directed at conservation, waste reduction, and community engagement. Examples are:

1. Members assembling 833 kits of recycled personal hygiene products. The donation of these kits helped in need populations. Clean the World, a not-for-profit partner, received these donations.
2. Through a partnership with not-for-profit Outside Las Vegas, member "garbage grabbers" embarked on a park improvement effort. Repairing flood damage, picking up trash, and buffing up furniture and playground equipment.

3. Exhibitors donated 1,250 pounds of leftover furniture and signage. These donations go to Veterans Village. They are a housing and intensive support services group. Plus, there is a Badge Back program. Attendees are able to donate leftover badges and lanyards. These donations go to The Teacher's Exchange. Badges and lanyards are re-purposed or re-used.

4. The "Green Caffeine" Campaign. This encouraged the use of reusable mugs by offering discounts on resort purchases. The campaign then encouraged the posting of "Green Caffeine" selfies on social media.
In addition, IMEX and The Venetian offered educational sustainability tours. Plus, talks by exhibitors chosen for their green leadership.
