Michelle Buteau is an actress, comedian, producer, and writer. She created, executive produced, and stars in the Netflix comedy series Survival Of The Thickest, a show she based on her autobiographical book of essays.

Following the series' July 2023 launch and the March 2025 release of its second season, the show will conclude with an upcoming third and final season. Buteau won the 55th NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television) for her work on the series.
In June 2024, Buteau recorded her second Netflix comedy special, A Buteau-ful Mind, at Radio City Music Hall. This performance established her as the first woman to tape a comedy special at the venue. Netflix released the special on December 31, 2024. Her debut Netflix special, Welcome To Buteaupia, earned the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Comedy Special.
Buteau also stars in the comedy Babes, alongside Ilana Glazer, which is directed by Pamela Adlon. The film premiered at SXSW and arrived in theaters on May 17, 2024. Variety noted the film's "unapologetically raw take on pregnancy and female friendship," while Rolling Stone called it the "'Bridesmaids' of babymaking." She recently completed production on the comedy Spa Weekend with Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, and Anna Faris.
Buteau hosts the Netflix reality competition series The Circle, which debuted its seventh season in September 2024, as well as the second season of Barbecue Showdown. She also hosted the 2024 Billboard Music Awards and the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party livestream. Her additional film and television credits include Marry Me, First Wives Club, Always Be My Maybe, and Someone Great.
