John Rzeznik and Robby Takac formed the Goo Goo Dolls in Buffalo, NY, in 1986. Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, the band has influenced popular music and established multiple tracks as staples of American music.
The group has sold over 15 million records worldwide and earned four GRAMMY® Award nominations. They currently hold the radio record for Most Top 10 Singles, having secured 16 number one and Top 10 hits.
Their discography includes the double-platinum A Boy Named Goo and the five-times-platinum Dizzy Up The Girl. Other notable releases, Gutterflower and Let Love In, earned gold certifications, while Something for the Rest of Us and Magnetic both debuted within the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Contemporary artists such as Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Maggie Rogers have covered their work. Recent certifications include platinum status for the singles “Slide,” “Black Balloon,” and “Better Days.”
Their hit single “Iris” spent 18 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 and earned the distinction of “#1 Top 40 Song of the Last 20 Years.” After gaining significant traction on TikTok, the song reached seven-times-platinum status and returned to the Billboard charts, illustrating the continued relevance of the band's catalog.
