PRESS RELEASE

The White House Recognizes First Of Its Kind, Newly Launched “Food Rescue Alliance” Program

Las Vegas, NV (February 28, 2024) – Launched in late 2023, Food Rescue Alliance, a collaboration with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and The Just One Project, is a first-of-its kind initiative that is innovating large-scale food rescue by introducing a streamlined process that allows fresh, healthy, prepared meals to immediately impact the lives of those challenged with food insecurity in Las Vegas. While The Venetian Resort has been on the forefront of food rescue since 2014, this new partnership will allow for a 100% increase in fresh meals donated to the community annually.

The Food Rescue Alliance was spotlighted during a White House briefing on Feb. 27, when Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff praised Americans from all across the country for their valiant participation in the White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities by 2030. This goal, set by President Biden in 2022, has received to date $1.7 billion in new commitments from partnerships. The Venetian Resort and The Just One Project’s Food Rescue Alliance program was one of only three initiatives out of 141 Emhoff highlighted during the briefing.

“The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is committed to helping its community members in need and to underscore our dedication to social responsibility, we’re honored to partner with The Just One Project to further eliminate hunger in our community,” said Patrick Nichols, president and chief executive officer of The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. “Our Team Members saw an opportunity to increase our food donation efforts after large conventions and tradeshows, and we knew it was something we had to do. The Food Rescue Alliance collaboration will more than double the number of our healthy meals that are accessible to individuals and families in our community. It is a program that makes us all very proud to be Venetians.”

The strategic convention-to-table program created around the sustainable concept of food rescue takes the surplus of fresh food from numerous catered events on property including tradeshows, conventions, and meetings, to provide community members, served by The Just One Project, with direct access to the safely stored and packaged meals. This alliance allows The Venetian Resort to significantly increase the number of meals rescued on property each year and further support The Just One Project’s efforts to provide relief to Southern Nevadans who are experiencing food insecurity.

“Through our mission of building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community, we’re always looking to collaborate on large-scale programs to increase our impact on the lives of the one in eight Southern Nevadans who are challenged with food insecurity every day. To team up with a partner like The Venetian Resort, where we’re working together shoulder-to-shoulder, is a dream come true, and it’s so exciting to know that this is just the beginning of an innovative new program that can act as a roadmap for other organizations and communities. We hope to inspire other organizations to join our food rescue alliance, because we all our stronger together” says Brooke Neubauer, CEO and founder of The Just One Project.

The Just One Project currently provides services to over 20,000 individuals each month. The Food Rescue Alliance program will continue to announce additional community activations and volunteer opportunities in 2024.
