What are Cookies?

A “cookie” is a small text file that websites send to a visitor’s computer or other Internet-connected device to identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser. A “web beacon”, also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and their cookies and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server. We refer to all of these technologies as “Cookies” for purposes of this Notice.

What information do we obtain through Cookies?

We use Cookies to collect information about your devices, browsing actions, and usage patterns. The information we obtain in this manner includes IP address, device ID, and other identifiers associated with your device, device type, device characteristics (such as operating system), the pages you visited on our websites, how you arrived at our websites, browser preferences and characteristics, clickstream data and other information about your online activities. We use both first-party Cookies (served directly by our website domain when you visit our sites) and third-party Cookies (served by a third-party website when you visit our sites and certain third-party websites with whom we have partnered). Some of these Cookies are session Cookies (which are automatically deleted when you close your browser) and others are persistent Cookies (which remain on your computer or other Internet-connected device for a period of time after you end your browsing session, unless you delete them).

Cookies used on our Online Channels

Below is a list of the categories of Cookies we use on our Online Channels.

Essential Cookies

Essential Cookies are necessary for us to provide you with our Online Channels. For example, these Cookies help us collect information, such as your session ID and other server information, that enables us to authenticate you. Essential Cookies typically are deleted when you end your browsing session or within a short period of time thereafter. You may stop Essential Cookies from being downloaded on your computer by selecting the appropriate settings on your web browser. If you do not allow these Cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of our Online Channels.

Functional Cookies

Functional Cookies enable improved website performance and an enhanced user experience. These Cookies collect information about your choices and remember your preferences so we can show you relevant content. For example, they allow us to remember your reservation details during a browsing session. Some of these Cookies are deleted when you close your browser, and others remain on your computer or other Internet-connected device for a period of time after you end your browsing session, unless you delete them. If you do not allow these Cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of our Online Channels.

Analytics Cookies

Analytics Cookies are used to analyze how you navigate through and use our Online Channels. These Cookies help us to improve the performance of our Online Channels and make them more user-friendly. For example, these Cookies collect information about how you use the Online Channels, including the pages you view, how long you stay on a page and whether the page is displayed correctly or whether errors occur. These Cookies may remain on your computer or other Internet-connected device for a certain period of time after you end your browsing session, unless you delete them.

We use third-party analytics services on our Online Channels, such as those of Google Analytics. To learn more about Google Analytics and how to opt out, visit: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising Cookies

Advertising Cookies are used to manage and serve ads to you, and include Targeting Cookies and Social Media Cookies. These Cookies may remain on your computer or other Internet-connected device for a certain period of time after you end your browsing session, unless you delete them.

Targeting Cookies may collect information about whether you have interacted with an advertisement and visited another website. These Cookies help us to offer you content that may be of interest to you and provide targeted information that seems more relevant to your interests. They also help us to measure the effectiveness of our advertisements and control and limit the frequency of advertisements and other information being displayed to you.

Social Media Cookies are third-party Cookies used to collect information on our Online Channels, including via apps, tools, plug-ins and widgets to collect information regarding your interactions with certain additional features. We work with third parties, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and TripAdvisor, to provide certain services to you and additional features, and to connect to certain social networks. Information is collected directly by the providers of the features and is subject to the privacy notices of the respective providers.
