Education and Youth Enrichment

Goodie Two Shoes

About Organization:
The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation is dedicated to providing disadvantaged children and those in crisis with essential items like new shoes and socks, fostering their health and positive development.

Activity Description:
Join us for outdoor shoe distribution events that happen rain or shine. These active, physically-demanding events require extended periods of standing, bending, and kneeling. There are no "sit-down" opportunities, so come prepared to make a hands-on difference. Dress appropriately for both the activity (no open-toed shoes, please) and the weather.

Spread The Word Nevada

About Organization:
Founded in 2001, Spread the Word Nevada is dedicated to advancing early childhood literacy by placing books into the hands and homes of children within Nevada’s at-risk, low-income communities. While developing a love of reading, these libraries promote future academic achievement and self-confidence, which impacts lifelong success.

Activity Description:

Option 1: Book Prep Volunteers will clean and repair gently used books that will be distributed to students in underserved schools.

Option 2: Books & Buddies After attending a Mentor Orientation, mentors are partnered with children who need support and individualized attention to improve their reading comprehension.

Communities In Schools

About Organization:
At Communities In Schools of Nevada, they believe that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, ZIP code, or socioeconomic background should have the support they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond

Activity Description:

NV reading week, Resource rooms, tidying up organizing, field days, fill the bus on drop off days and following it, possibly prior to FTB to prep warehouse, help site coordinator organize recourse room, end of year attendance celebration party.

While CCSD schools are in session (Fall) August – (Spring) May there are opportunities to volunteer and support at events.

Collaboration Center Foundation

About Organization:
Collaboration Center is a community for inclusion and a disability resource network, focused upon family and peer engagement, social interaction, health and wellness, recreation, therapy, education, and vocational training to enhance the lives of those touched by Intellectual, Developmental, Physical, and Learning Disabilities (ID/DD/PD/LD) of ALL ages.

Activity Description:

Our Mission is to offer free support and services to homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students in the Southern Nevada area so they can remain in school and graduate.

Nevada Partnerships for Homeless Youth

About Organization:
NPHY is the most comprehensive service provider for the thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in Southern Nevada, offering a holistic approach that empowers youth to reach their highest potential.

Activity Description:

Option 1. Thriving Thursday - Dynamic Outreach Event. 
Together, we'll venture into the community to provide essential resources such as clothing, food, and hygiene supplies. Alongside this, we'll orchestrate engaging games and activities to create an environment filled with fun and positivity.

Option 2: Feel Good Friday - Dynamic Outreach Event. Join our dynamic outreach event as we reach out to the community, delivering essential resources and spreading positivity. Just like Thriving Thursday, we'll provide clothing, food, and hygiene supplies, ensuring that our outreach goes beyond the basics to create a meaningful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Option 3: Cooking for a Cause. Put your culinary skills to use on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. during our Cooking for a Cause event. Plan and prepare a meal for the youth at our Drop-In Center, facilitating meaningful interactions between adults and young individuals.

Inspire the Next Generation with Junior Achievement!

Junior Achievement (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success by teaching them essential skills in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. As part of our partnership, The Venetian even has a storefront in JA's Financial Park, where students get to experience what it’s like to run a business—Venetian-style!

Activity Description:
As a volunteer, you'll share your career journey, offer guidance, and help students envision a successful future. Your time and experience can make a lasting impression—and may just be the spark that inspires a future leader.

Get Outdoors Nevada

Activity Description:

Volunteers who give their service to our community’s parks and trails are the heart of our organization. They help keep Nevada’s urban trails, community landscapes and local parks beautiful and our volunteer programs active. More importantly, they share their skills, contribute their time, and enhance our lives. Your service through volunteer time always makes a difference.

Green Our Planet

Activity Description:

Volunteers will work alongside Green Our Planet farmers as we clean up and maintain the school’s garden. Join us for this fun outdoor volunteer opportunity at a local school garden.

All the tools needed for this opportunity will be provided by Green Our Planet. However, you are encouraged to bring your own refillable water bottle and sunscreen. Hats and other sun protection are encouraged.

Hunger and Homelessness

Three Square

About Organization:
Three Square aims to provide wholesome food to hungry people, passionately pursuing a hunger-free community through collaboration with various community partners.

Activity Description:

Option 1: Volunteer Room. Sort and organize donated grocery product for our inventory, packing produce, and help washing bins that meals are packed in. We will train you while you are here. Please note this activity is a standing activity.

Option 2: Kids Cafe Kitchen. Pack meals in our kitchen to make sure that these kids are receiving 3 meals a day.

Option 3: Senior Hunger Program. Setting up and breaking down tables, serving drinks and meals, wiping down tables and packing up meals to-go.

Option 4: Volunteer Room Evening Pack. Volunteer opportunities to help sort and/or pack produce and/or donated food product in our Volunteer Room.

Hope for the City

About Organization:
At The Venetian Resort, we are passionate about making a difference in our community, and one organization that embodies this commitment is Hope for the City. This incredible organization is dedicated to eradicating hunger across the Las Vegas Valley and beyond, stepping in at the onset of the pandemic when food resources were scarce.

Activity Description:
Join us in being a part of our impactful efforts by volunteering at pop-up food pantries in various locations. This hands-on experience directly contributes to our mission of ending hunger.

What to Wear:
A red Venetian volunteer shirt, available for pickup at main HR office. Since we operate outdoors, dress for the weather and ensure you have closed-toed shoes for safety.

Age Requirement:
A waiver will need to be signed by everyone, and for those under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany them.

The Just One Project

About Organization:
The Just One Project empowers volunteers to make a difference in the community through various programs that address food insecurity.

Food Rescue Alliance Volunteer Activity Description:
Volunteers will help transfer food from convention pans into foil pans, package cold and hot foods to prepare for distribution in the community.

Option 1.
 
Our Community Market is open Monday through Friday. We encourage teams, families and individuals to join us. You will help assemble grocery bags & assist seniors and families with grocery pick up.

Option 2. Deliver fresh and nutritious groceries directly to client's doorsteps who are unable to leave their residence. Our routes typically take less than 2 hours.

Option 3. We serve 40 locations monthly and need many teams, families and individuals to help at each location. You will help unload food pallets and hand out food to our neighbors in need.

Option 4. Pop Up & Give Mobile Pantries. Drive through style. Volunteers help distribute to community members who drive through the pop-up pantry.

Location:
Options 1, 2, and 3 are at 1401 N Decatur Blvd suite 34, Las Vegas, NV 89108.
Option 4 is listed with several participating schools.

Age Requirement:
There is no age requirement to volunteer. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.  

Las Vegas Rescue Mission

About Organization:
Founded in 1970, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission (LVRM) started with a small storefront building that included the chapel, kitchen and a shelter that could house a few men. Today, LVRM campus takes up two city blocks in downtown Las Vegas, helping hundreds of men, women and their children daily, and provides approximately 30,000 meals each month.

Activity Description:

Option 1.
 
Warehouse Rockstar: Volunteers will assist staff with sorting, pricing and organizing merchandise for our Thrift store and Warehouse

Option 2. Community Advocate: Volunteers will work with the Kitchen Staff and perform tasks related to serving the Community Dinner.

Location:

Days/Times:

  • Thursday and Fridays: 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Daily 4:15PM – 6:15PM

What to Wear:
A red Venetian volunteer shirt, available for pickup at main HR office. All volunteers are required to dress modestly, and clothing cannot display inappropriate / offensive images or verbiage Long pants (no leggings or shorts), shirt (no tanks) and closed toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals). There are no exceptions, even in the summer as this is a health and safety requirement.

Age Requirement:
16+ and MUST have own vehicle on property OR be accompanied by an adult who has also signed up for this shift. No Exceptions.

Photography:
You are not authorized take photos during volunteer shifts in the dining hall due to LVRM clients potentially being captured in your images/videos and they are covered under HIPAA and prior written consent is required from them to have their photo taken. You can only take photos of yourself or volunteer group in the dining hall lobby by the "We Love Our Volunteers" banner. If you have questions regarding this policy, please speak to the volunteer coordinator or staff member on duty

Habitat for Humanity

ReStore. Volunteers will clean, unpack, and organize the sales floor and warehouse

HELP of Southern Nevada

About Organization:
We assist families and individuals throughout Southern Nevada to overcome barriers and attain self-sufficiency through direct services, training and referral to community resources.

Activity Description:

Option 1.
 
Volunteers will greet Diaper Bank clients, check clients in for their appointments ,and schedule return appointments.

Option 2. Meal Prep. Volunteers age 18+ will assist the kitchen staff with preparing and serving dinner for our clients.

  • Option 1: Every Monday from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Opportunity Village

About Organization: 
Share Village Las Vegas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness, poverty, and hunger in the United States. Share Village not only provides housing for over 500 previously homeless U.S. Veterans, individuals, and families each night but also offers comprehensive market-fresh food programs. Additionally, they distribute emergency food boxes, feminine hygiene supplies, and even support our furry friends by housing over 150 dogs and cats.

Activity Description:
Join us in sorting, packaging, and distributing groceries during our Community Pantry.

About Organization: 
Our mission is the successful transition of military veterans and their families through the provision of housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support.

Activity Description:
Option 1. Mindfulness Mondays. Volunteers will do yoga with the vets and then serve them dinner.

Option 2. Bible Study. Volunteers will read with the vets.

Option 3. Movie Night. Volunteers will watch a movie with vets and then serve them dinner.

The USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.

Activity Description:
Volunteers will provide hospitality, care, and kindness towards military service members and their families at a USO location or special event near you. This may include welcoming guests, serving snacks and beverages, ensuring a tidy, clean and relaxing environment, or by simply providing a listening ear
